Saturday Night Fever

Ready to head to T'town.  Little man didn't go this time.

Raughley participated in his school's "Veteran's Day Parade" yesterday.  I got some cute pics of him before school wearing an outfit I made for him last year, that just now really fits him.  Thank goodness for warm weather so he could wear it!

Juliska Contest

So I never do things like this, entering into online contests and such, but this one looked fun, and since I had the China pattern needed to enter, I thought, "why not?"  So, I set my table with my Juliska china, mixing and matching other pieces in, and took pictures while Raughley took his morning nap.  

The picture with the most "likes" on the Brombergs Bride facebook page wins a trip to Watercolors, but the picture chosen by the Bromberg's staff wins a Juliska gift card. THAT is what I would love to win.  

But, we'll see. There are already so many good pics, and still two months left for people to enter. It was fun to do though, and I think I'll leave my dining room table like this for a few days anyway.

What a game.  Another loss for our team this year, but the way I see it, this gives us something to work for next year.  A chip on our shoulders.  A reason to fight harder.  And hopefully we will.  But, if the point of it all is to get together, eat a lot of food and have a good time, then we certainly did that yesterday.

I was a great day to be a football fan, even if we didn't win, and I always love getting to hang out with some of my favorite people!  Roll Tide!

A taste of motherhood

I'm sitting here in the quiet dark typical of mornings before daylight savings, and Raughley is still asleep.  I love these mornings, because I can drink my coffee, fix his breakfast, and gasp, even brush my teeth before he wakes up.  It makes me feel gathered at the beginning of the day, instead of the frazzled I usually feel in the mornings.  Mr. Raughley is not a morning fellow on most mornings, and demands his breakfast ASAP when he gets up, which usually leaves me running around trying to keep him from falling apart while I make his eggs or pancakes or whatever mommy of the year breakfast I'm trying to fix for him.  Trying desperately to keep a balance of not giving into his every demand, but keeping him somewhat happy and getting his day off to a good start.

  Well yesterday I had a taste of what life will be like as a mom of two.  I got to babysit Caroline while Emily was out, and first of all, let me say what a doll she was.  Easy, quiet, and sweet.  While I have to say that Raughley wasn't feeling well, I saw first hand the comparison of toddler to infant.  Quite a difference that is so easily forgotten.  Each child was wonderful, but together it was a challenge.  Probably because I was trying to cook and clean at the same time.  And, I thought, if I had children these two ages, they would be 13 months apart- you do the math- that's too close for comfort for moi.   I had a huge realization that the life I run right now will drastically change once we decide to have number two.  No more multi-tasking the way I am used to, things will probably not get done around here as they have so diligently.  I will have to let go of some control!!!!

   Just some thoughts to ponder.  Now I better get Raughley's breakfast ready, and pray that he is rested and feeling better this morning.  Sickness begone!  And Caroline, come back anytime, we loved having you over to play!

Together on Halloween, Again!

Well, Friday night while Raughley was spending the night with his Grandparents, he came down with a bad fever, one of those "bugs" that goes around, and the poor guy was prone all weekend on my chest, therefore, no trick-or-treating.  However, I feel like he got enough of the holiday in the week of, and myself, I was glad of the break.  By Friday I had had enough of the old Halloween.  Call me a scrooge, but I'm just ready for the next phase, the most wonderful time of the year!.  

Before this happened though, we had one last bash at Laura's on Friday night.  

This party seems to be a tradition amongst our friends.  For years it seems, while we may not make the effort on each other's birthdays consistently, nor do we play dirty santa at Christmas time, we always seem to have time for each other on Halloween. 

Laura hosted the party this year, and the costumes were some of the best yet.
