One Week Old

Liam is now one week old, and Raughley is coping with having a new little brother by playing in his pirate tent about 10 hours a day, and dragging everyone he loves in it with him.

Having had a week to adjust to a fourth human in our house, I can say Chase and I are doing pretty well.

It is amazing what you can do with very little sleep, and with back aches from having camped out in a tent for most of the day.

Liam has had plenty of visitors, which has been really nice for me to have company.

He is getting lots of much needed love and attention.

At is one week check up he weighed 6 lbs 14 oz, which is 2 oz more than he was born and 4 gained since we left St. Vincents.

He is a great eater, and a very good sleeper.

Ra Ra has been having fun playing with his baby brother, and in spite of needing his alone time in his boat
is so sweet to baby Liam whenever he has the chance.
Liam is starting to look less like Raughley's baby pics and more like himself, and I think, Chase and Carl.

How funny that our baby named with Wise names looks like a Morris, and our baby with Morris names looks like a Wise. Love it.

So as of one week, Liam is trying to hold his head up,

holding his head really still when he is listening to someone, and focusing really hard on what is right in front of him.

He likes tummy time and being snuggled.

And Raughley is loving dress up and playing make believe.

And is generally trying to be the center of attention whenever possible.

Both boys have colds, so we have taken to 24 hour humidifiers, over use of saline spray, and the dreaded booger buster!
But the doctor visit allowed me to check on R's weight gain as well, and he is now 28 pounds and 35 inches!

I kind of panicked when Liam came down with a cold, but the doctor said all was well, that it was normal and as long as he doesn't run fever he is fine.

So we resumed normal life as we know it, with both chaos and calm, and lots of tissues!

Hospital Pics

So I've been working on editing my real camera pics from the past week, and here are the first ones I've finished. Now that I am not pregnant, my weird aversion to taking pictures is gone, and I have refund my love for my camera again, yay!  On the other hand, one week ago I was ripping through every book I picked up, and now, I can't even think about reading.  So weird how your hormones affect every part of your life!
So here we are, around 6 AM, hooked up to the wired and IV's getting ready for baby's delivery!Lovely picture I know.

11:42, he is here! Pickled skin and all, ready to meet the world!

Looking much happier once they wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in his little plastic manger.

Maybe it's because I was very pregnant around Christmas that the thought of Mary having a baby in a barn made me feel very thankful for hospitals and IV's and modern medicine.  The line above kept running through my head that afternoon.

I kind of hate that these pictures of me are on the blog, but Im hoping we will all appreciate them one day.

The next step after cleaning up the baby was to bring in the big boy.  And Boy was he excited!  He kept telling me to "get dressed and go home."  And Asked me, "are you at the do-too?"  which is where we kept telling him I was going once baby brother decided to get here.  Even a week later he looks at me with such fear in his eyes and asks me if I have to go back to the doctor.  It's nice to know I was missed!

Our sweet nurse Holly took care of us all day long.  I hated to see her go at 3:00.

Then the fam came in.  The godparents brought champagne and we had a quick toast to the new addition, and everyone got a chance to look at the little guy.  No one could hold him that morning due to lower temperatures, but those that came back that night got a quick cuddle in.  Ill let you look at the pics below for further proof.

The next day when I had some time to myself I took a few pics of little Liam to remember how sweet he looked in his little crib.  I really wanted to sneak down to the newborn nursery to get a peak at him amongst all the other babies, but then I had this fear that there would be no other babies in the nursery, proving that I was a bad mother by sleeping through the night those two nights in the hospital!  Plus, a woman wandering around the ward with slippers, a nighty and crazy hair might cause some unwanted attention.

He was so sweet and posed for me like such a good boy!

A note from my grandmother B, which reads, "A pair of Jacks beats a Queen any day."  Cute.

Our hospital stay was wonderful, with great nurses and doctors, and I was pretty sad to leave!  But it is nice to be home in our own beds, and so wonderful to be back with my little family under our own roof!
