A day for May May

last week was May May's birthday, and we had a day full of celebrating, which started with lunch at yummy Olexa's!

Mom got to spend time with an old friend from Elementary school and her mother, along with me and my grandmother, and of course, R.

It was such a fun ladies who lunch kind of day, and of course we wish May May many happy returns!

Words Words Words

As we approach Raughley's *gasp* 2nd Birthday, I wanted to take some time to reflect on all he has learned and done, so that I will forever remember the sweet wonderful little person he was at age one.
So today I thought I would think about the words he has learned, and his little babbling that goes on all day long at  la Casa de Wise.

All day long I hear this gibberish that I can't quite translate for you, but it comes tangent with head bobbing, bouncing, running, flailing arms and massive facial expressions, so I know it must mean something to him.  Every once in a while a word or phrase will come through, and he has discovered another word out of the English Language.

My favorite thing is when he walks around the yard talking to himself, waving a stick or a golf club.  Or how about when he runs up to mommy with something like a ball, and has this proud look on his face, smiling and saying, "A BA!" Here are a few other examples:

Objects:
ball- "A Ba"
Golf club- "ga "
Golf cart- "ga ca"
Mickey- "key"
Goofy- "goo"
Donald- "da"
car- "ca"
Pooh- "poo"
Belly Button- "dee"
Hat- "ha"
Bath- "Baaa"
Water- "wa"
Shoe- "soo"
train- "whoo whoo"
milk- "mmmm"
duck- "du"

Family- (can you guess who these people are?)
Maa
Da da
Rah
Pat Pat
Cah
Pop
maaeeeey
wih (only said it once, but it counts)
Mmmm
Gidi
Gi
Be
jgkrljoe- (ill give you a hint here, this is Aunt Frances Ellen- she just gets gibberish for now)
woof woof
wiieeeeee
keeee

And what we are so proud about, his most recent accomplishment- the sentence!

I see a bah!
and bye bye dada!

Matchmaker, Matchmaker

Probably the most exciting thing to happen last week (between my mom and Chase's Birthday) was UAB match day.  I have never experienced anything like this before.  Picture Rush, but in front of 500 people where you must announce your bid to the audience.  Our friend Wiley from BSC was first, his name drawn from random out of a basket.  He's going to UAB.

Way down the line were George and Jenny, two of our best friends, and we waited anxiously for their announcement.

They are going to be in Birmingham!!!!  We are so happy for them and all their success, and cannot wait to have them close by for the next couple of years at least.  We love y'all!

Activities at the Inn

While at the beach, the Gasparilla Inn had some Spring Break family activities available for us to do while Chase played Golf.

First, we took Pooh Bear to the Teddy Bear Tea Party!  Definitely a girl's activity, but R had fun anyway.

Pooh even got to taste a cookie.

After about ten minutes he started falling apart and we had to leave, right after I announce to all the ladies who lunch and their lily dressed daughters that R just had a boil lanced and he is having a tough day.  Lovely.

More up our alley was the visit to see Red Beard the Pirate and his sidekick parrot Bones.

Now this Raughley loved.  Red Beard told stores and Bones talked and ate crackers for the kids.

R kept going "bu, bu"  which I took to mean Bird.
However, about fifteen minutes into this activity, he decided it was time to call it a day, waved bye bye to Bones and walked out the door, not even a wave to his mama.  I go running after him, diaper bag in hand, realized that he had simply had enough and as calling the shots regarding our afternoon activities.  I thought it would be teenage years before this happened, but I guess I was wrong.

I gave him a break though, because he was feeling pretty bad at this point.
Well have to visit Red Beard again another time, because he was pretty great.

The Great Outdoors

As you know we have an eagle's nest across the street from us at the Beach.

Well, the Osprey are NOT happy with the eagles lately, and one day while we were sitting on the porch, said birds began attacking one another in a midair skirmish, right in front of our eyes.

I felt like I was in an episode of Planet Earth.  It was amazing to see these creatures have it out.  The eagle chased Mr. osprey off, go team Eagle!

All in view of the setting sun- I mean rising moon.

This is three in the afternoon btw.  Isn't it funny how the moon does this?

The babes watched while dad or mom defended them in the air.

And Parker and I defended little man as he walked down and up the stairs.

Nature at its best!

Shots from the Beach

So now that things have slowed down here a bit, I feel like I can catch up.

Last week we took a trip to Boca with some of Chase's co workers.

We got to enjoy the sun, spend time with people he works with, take a little time away from home.

The grocery store had a fundraiser for Relay for Life while we were there.

Everyone wore purple, (obvi)

Howard really enjoyed his lunch... sorry Gidi!

Spring Breakers poured in to help support.

My cousin Parker is working near Boca this year and got to drive down and spend the weekend with us!

We loved having him spend some time with the fam, and hopefully he can come back again!

The weather was lovely, the company was great, the only set back was our little man's sad tragedy.

Which I am happy to say is going away and he is feeling great.

There was much golf carting and shelling last week,

Someone is ready to be a driver now!

Parker taught Raughley "red" and he has been practicing that and blue, calling everything "boo" regardless of it's true color.
But, when you ask him to find the blue such and such, he points right at something blue.  So smart!

Thanks Parker for being such a good teacher!
