Sew Happy!

Well, I started sewing for Raughley this fall, and finished two outfits that were pretty frustrating for me to work on, but like anything, sewing gets easier the more you practice.  So here we are, three more outfits for my little man!  I love the applique's!  (Which I did not do myself, just so you know- but I did fine adorable matching buttons to go with each design.)

See below for another post about our trip to Jackson this weekend!

Jackson

Road Trip!
The fam headed to Jackson, MS for Lindsay and Jon Mark's engagement party last Saturday night.  The best part of my fam couldn't go though, because little man was still sick, so poor Chase had to stay at home and play doctor.  He is the greatest, letting me go to this party while he stayed behind.
The five of us piled into the starship and headed down to Jackson...

The party was at Jon Mark's grandparent's house in Madison.
It was gorgeous, and packed!  I wish I could have gotten more picks of Jon Mark's family, but was too shy to just walk up to them and take pics.
The Bride and Groom! 3 weeks to go!
The 5 of us

Mom and Dad

A few of L's bridesmaids, with Jon Mark's cute grandfather, he had a great time I think!
MOH's!
A few candid's from the party:

It was so great to spend time with our two families.  They have a lot in common, being large families, but Jon Mark's takes the cake, their fam is about twice as large as ours, and so welcoming!  We had a great time, thanks to the Pierce's and the Jordan's for having us!!!

Finally!

Last night we had some ''happy time" with R because after 6 days of being sick he is finally feeling better! I took him back to the doctor yesterday for the 3rd time in a week, but thank goodness I did because he was starting to get an ear infection! Poor little guy- stomach bug and ear infection in the same week! So after a gruesome shot of antibiotics and a good long nap, he was starting to feel much better, and even had the energy to do a little "singing" last night!
(He usually claps through the whole of this song, but I think he got a little stage fright with the camera in front of him.)

Just to show you a little developmental milestone, we didn't practice this over and over like some tricks we try to get him to do. This song is just one of the handful of baby songs I know, so I sing it randomly and he just picked it up on his own. I was singing it to him the other day while I took his temp to distract him from the uncomfortable humiliation that is the rectal thermometer, and he to my amazement starting clapping along! The mind of a baby is an amazing thing!

Picnic...if only!

These two pics were taken last week, when we had a day of beautiful weather and could play outside!!! IF only that would happen again!!!!

Actually, I do believe today will be nice as well, but unfortunately for us at the Wise Household, little boy is STILL SICK!!!! This is day 6 folks of Stomach Bug 2010. Can you only stop for a minute and imagine what my life has been like the past couple of days.

Okay, you're right- I love every minute of taking care of Raughley, whether he's sick or not, and it's not like I have more than one child to worry about catching it. It just makes me so sad to see him so puny, snuggled up on my chest hugging my neck. (Which is what we have been doing most days this week :(

We're off to the doctor for the 3rd time this week, so say a little prayer that we will get better soon, so I can see that cute smile again and watch him be the happy boy he usually is!!!

Austin...Yeehaw!

It's official, Lindsay's wedding festivities have begun...with a bang.  I went last weekend to Austin, TX with L's girlfriends for her bachelorette party. Never having been to Austin before, I was prepared for anything- any I think we experienced a little of everything.  Plenty of hook 'em horns paraphernalia, but not a lot of boots and chaps.  That part surprised me. Instead, the vibe felt more... Yankee?  I'm not sure how to describe, except for lots of gelled hair on guys, plenty of goth, etc.  Of course that was on 6th Street, where we spent our first night out. Turns out 6th street is VERY touristy.  Although I had a ball, and really enjoyed the pizza stand on the way home at the end of the night.

BTW- the pictures below and above are courtesy of Lindsay's friend Abby, who is a very talented photographer, and graciously shared her pics with all of us.

Lindsay's friends, who were so sweet to me- I felt right at home with them!

Here is how we started the night- Austin was so welcoming- they gave us free drinks everywhere we went, because of our bachelorette.
These may look yummy, but I soon learned they are nothing but sugar!!! No alchohol whatsoever, so I soon learned to say "Thanks but no thanks" to those freebees.

Aaah, this is more my style- free as well, can you believe it?

Dueling piano bar- he's saying something shocking!
Here's the right of passage, from one bride to her MOH (sis in law Meagan)- a tradition started at my bachelorette party...

Seen here, I can't believe I am showing y'all this pic, (from 3 years ago btw)

The next day we ate at the most fabulous lunch place!!! Perla's.

We don't look tired do we?
My only comment about this place was the 3.00 mimosa... 3.00 you say, what  a bargain!!!  Well, they don't tell you you also have to pay 8.00 for the champagne that goes in the OJ!!!!!  WHAT!

But my banana pancake was amazing, so I didn't care.

Shopping on Congress Street afterwards.

This is what you see at the end of congress street- so pretty!

That night, after a bit of sunbathing on the rooftop pool, we had our lingerie shower.  Meagan, L's soon to be sis in law,  and I threw her a shower in our hotel room.  M brought cupcakes from a gourmet cupcake place called Sprinkles in Dallas- they were to die for!  We also made this drink with champagne and a mango infused vodka called X-rated.  I'd never heard of it, but a couple in the liquor store sold us on it, so we tried it out, and it was yummy and pink!  SO cute!

Afterwards we headed to a fantastic sushi dinner at a place called Imperia.  The bartender helped us get the night started with a toast and a sake bomb--- which is where you drop saki in a beer and Chug!  There was no chugging for moi, since I am terrible at it, and had a 7am flight the next morning.

Such a fun trip and hopefully a great memory for Linds.  Many more fun parties to come in the weeks ahead so stay tuned!!!!

PS- the sickly's are much better today, thank goodness!!!

Sweet Sick Boys

I find myself in a rare place this afternoon... alone and in total quiet.  Normally I would find this a great place to be, but in these circumstances, it is not.  My two sweet boys (one little, one big- aka husband and baby) are sick as dogs.  The dreaded stomach bug. Yuck.  I feel so bad for them, both laying in bed asleep, fighting off a virus, and only hope that I don't get it myself.  I have been so busy all morning driving to the doctor, picking up prescriptions, chicken soup from Zoe's, jello from the pig, making the jello bc they didn't have any ready to go, rocking the baby to sleep, and now here I am in silence for one second... oh wait, somebody's awake...
