Pooh Sticks

On Sunday we went to Jemison Park and played Pooh Sticks.  (From the book, Winnie the Pooh, in case you are totally daft).
You drop the sticks on one side of a bridge over moving water, and watch them appear on the other side.
Whoever's comes out first is the winner.
Apparently, there are Pooh Stick competitions all over the world.  Who knew?
Here is a website dedicated to the sport:
Well, Raughley won every time.

How nice is it to be able to commune with nature with your family, after a long game of Pooh Sticks?

Pooh: I wonder which will come out first?
Narrator: Well, the big one came out first, and the little one came out last, which was what Pooh wanted.
Pooh: I did?
Narrator: Yes, Pooh, and that was the beginning of a game called "Poohsticks".
Pooh: [smiles proudly] Which I invented!

  1. Cute! We are loving reading The Complete Tales of Winnie the Pooh these days. We'll have to find a way to play Pooh Sticks too!
