Chase and I just got back from a fabulous weekend in the Big Apple. We went to visit his cousins Emily and Cameron who live up there, and celebrate Emily's engagement to David.
Chase indulged me the first night and went to see Newsies! (It was so good... definitely met my expectations, and we even saw the second cast, I can't imagine how good the first cast was!)
We ate at our hotel restaurant, Gemma. Italian, and it was yummy. We got a meat and cheese plate, artichoke salad, and I got a pasta dish, of course managing to spill something on my silk shirt, so it showed all night. Newsies was filled with a high school field trip, so the show was peppered with screaming teenage girls and boys every time a newsboy opened his mouth to sing. The actors played off the energy though. We walked through time square on our way back to the Bowery, and had drinks in the hotel lobby, which is this really artsy hotel where we stayed that somehow attracts actors. We saw Jude Law while we were there that night. Jude. Law. Wow. He's really short. We also saw the mom from Gossip Girl, and Carl saw Ashley Olsen that afternoon. But what was so much fun was how cozy the lobby was, with a fireplace and velvet upholstery on all the furniture. The lobby was a favorite of ours all three nights we were there.
